The location

We access the ice using traditional ice-fishing methods and quality equipment, drilling fresh holes and targeting mountain trout in a true backcountry setting. Our basecamp serves as the central hub for this trip, providing warm meals, a warm fire, and a place to share the day's stories.

Winter conditions are part of the program. Guests should arrive with appropriate clothing and gear, your guides will provide a packlist for this trip upon booking. Your guides will also provide the gear and experience to harbour a rewarding day on the ice.

This is an example, not a schedule. Your group dictates the pace, timing, and activity mix. The guides arrive equipped for all of it — you decide what you actually want.

Day 1

Travel & camp orientation

Drive in by 4×4 to lakeside camp. Gear orientation, welcome dinner at the basecamp.

Day 2

Full day on the ice

Drilling fresh holes and targeting mountain trout. Hot meals at basecamp between sessions.

Day 3

Departure

Morning session on the ice. Pack out by early afternoon.

Safety isn't a section. It's the whole job.

Winter is a different program than summer at Blackwater. Most groups end up booking both.
